Sunday, Primary, Closing Prayer

This last Sunday, Isaac was asked to give the Closing prayer in Primary. I had been mentioning it all week, and his reply was always, "Yeah!". Well when Sunday came around, I was asked to substitute teach for the 8-9 year old class. So it worked out well, I would be in Primary to help him if he needed it. Sharing time and music time went well, Isaac even got to go "fishing" for a song during music time, and he got to pick his favorite song (Book of Mormon Stories - especially the verse about Ammon). So when the time came for him to give the closing prayer, I figured, I would wait and see how he did, and if he got shy, I could jump up and go help him. So when they called him to give the prayer, he jumped up and said (more acurately, shouted) "I'M HERE!" So, he made his way up to the front and stepped up to the pulpit. He seemed to be doing fine, so I waited. We all closed our eyes, and everything was quiet ... then ... "DEAR HEAVENLY FATHER!" ... "OH! THAT WAS LOUD" ... (meanwhile, myself and all of the teachers were laughing (very quietly, mind) very hard). Then, in a slightly quieter voice, "Dear Heavenly Father ..... " and he finished the prayer. As funny as it was, I was so proud of him! He did it all by himself and he did really well too.
Oh, how I love these moments! They are too good not to share.

That is so funny. I wish I was there to have heard it. Peter said the prayer today and his mouth was on the microphone throughout the whole prayer. It was loud.

That is so funny. It reminds me of when a few weeks ago Logan had a talk in primary. I was there whispering the words into his ear. He couldn't hear me very well and what came out sounded Chinese. Like your situation, everyone got the giggles, especially me. Then he said, "Mom, stop laughing." Which only made things worse. I don't know how, but we made it through the rest of the talk. Logan loved the experience and like you, it is a memory I won't forget.
